Grind consistency, great for espresso (at least with my machine)
Negative Product Points
grind directly into portafilter is a little messy; noisy
Detailed Commentary
I have been surprised by some of the negative reviews for this line of machines. too many of the reviews seem to take the position that if you cant drive the aston martin vanquish, you might as well just walk...I have to disagree.
I use the Maestro Plus with the Breville 800esxl. With the grinder set to approximately 13 (non modified), and a pretty heavy tamp, I am consistently able to pull good quality espresso shots, with great crema and little to no bitterness. (I use a krups nonpressurized filter as recommended on this site, so the crema results are not the result of a pressurized filter).
Certainly this grinder is not the best grinder on the market. So, if you are looking for the absolute best grinder out there you should continue looking and be prepared to part ways with significantly more money. However, I am of the opinion that one does not need to spend $250+ in order to purchase a capable espresso grinder. for those looking for something in that category, these machines are more than capable and I highly recommend them.
