Please don't waste your money on this grinder - buy a Capresso Infinity instead!
Positive Product Points
I rated useability and aesthetics at 8, because these were perceived positives that motivated my buying decision. It is a nice looking machine, and should be very easy to use.
Negative Product Points
My experience with this grinder was so terrible, that to give it the benefit of doubt, I have to assume it was dropped and damaged in the factory before shipping. There is no physical evidence of this, but I don't know how else to explain it's terrible performance.
Detailed Commentary
For starers, it made a horrible, oscillating, whining noise while grinding (imagine something like the noise a trash compactor might make). The grind quality was terrible. No matter the grind setting, it spit out dust and coffee chunks. I took it apart and reassembled it. The burrs appeared undamaged, and I made sure they were seated properly. No change. I tried oily beans and I tried dry, lightly roasted beans. I tried coarse and fine and every setting in between. All resulted in horrible noise, and varying amounts of dust and chunks. I put it back in the box and sent it back the same day. After more research I purchased a Capresso Infinity for much less ($89), and I couldn't be happier! Please don't waste your money on the Baratza! Even had I received a perfectly functioning Baratza, I would still kick myself for spending $50 more than I needed to.
Buying Experience
Aabree Coffee was great to work with. They have a good website, and good prices. The order went smoothly. They took the grinder back without any hassle.
