I can see why someone would see this and buy it, but it is simply unusable for even the experienced user let alone a novice.
Positive Product Points
Looks OK.
Negative Product Points
Motor stops when on fine grind, "micro" adjustment moves on its own when motor running so changes grind, the timer knob has too short a shaft and falls off constantly...
Detailed Commentary
I bought this grinder because it seemed to get good reviews. I guess I'm a little confused now. I can't have got a bad one which I know can happen, because all of the things that are wrong with it are clearly design and quality issues.
I have to hold the timer knob otherwise it pops off either during the cycle or at the end. I have lost it twice now and had to find it.
If I set it to the fine grind I like (which isn't all that fine) the grinder actually stops. You can hear it struggling and then literally stops in mid grind. I have to empty the beans and clear the burrs to get it going again. This makes it basically unusable and unless I hold the micro adjustment lever while it is grinding, it moves and adjusts itself.
All in all, I feel like I must have a bad one, but all of these things are actually design and quality issues, not things that can just be wrong with a single machine. I will be buying a new grinder but I won't be selling this one as I would feel that I was ripping off the person buying it.
