Detailed Commentary
The first of these went back to the retailer because the bin for ground coffee, which is plastic and very flimsy, was broken out of the box. The second unit when back to Bodum after about 30 days, as a piece of the grinding mechanism broke off and jammed the machine. Bodum quickly sent a replacement.
Our main complaint is that beans do not move through the machine very well--one thinks it is grinding, only to find it is clogged. The grinder needs to be shaken, or the beans stirred, to insure that beans are moving. The cord storeage on the bottom is a good idea, but its shape and size make it only marginally useful. The bin for ground coffee is cracked despite very careful use.
We've replaced the Bodum with a KitchenAid Pro-Line grinder, which we love, and which works great.
