Beans regularly get stuck in hopper and grinder needs to be shaken to aid the gravity fed hopper. Grounds exit clogs up easily. Very messy.
Detailed Commentary
I bought this as an upgrade to a blade grinder and have used it daily for more than 5 years! That's reliable. The grinder does make a bit more powder than I like but the biggest complaint I have had over the years is that it takes too long (60 seconds) to grind enough beans for 6 cups of coffee, and like 90% of the time the beans hang up in the hopper and I need to shake the grinder to get them flowing again. It also requires daily cleaning of the exit chute because of all the powder buildup. Otherwise it has been fine for drip coffee. I recently replaced it with a cheap DeLonghi burr grinder and while I like the speed of the DeLonghi, the Braun gives a more consistent grain size.
Buying Experience
As always with Hecht's, buy on a weekend. It's the only time they have "sales".
