Good for regular coffee grinds, worthless for espresso grinds.
Positive Product Points
Other Braun products I've owned have lasted a long time. This one may have too. But it unit didn't meet my criteria for grinding so it was immediately donated to a charity.
Negative Product Points
No good for espresso grinding even at the lowest setting. Worked great for regular coffee, but there are cheaper ways to get that simple result.
Detailed Commentary
I wanted a grinder for my home espresso production. I bought this unit almost two years ago to replace a cheaper Braun unit that was being relegated to other uses. At the time, I was less well-versed in the art of espresso production than I am today. But after much study and training, I've come to understand the faults of many pieces of equipment supposedly designed for this intention. This unit was a no-brainer.
At the lowest setting, it could not produce a grind fine enough to hold back the steam in the espresso machine. The liquid just poured through the grinds because they were too coarse. I immediately knew this grinder was not for me. However, it DID make a decent grind for regular drip coffee machines, but there are much cheaper and smaller units that will do that simple task, so I doubt you would need to buy a pricier grinder for Folger's-like coffee.
