Reasonably well-made, good looking grinder that is completely unsuitable for espresso.
Positive Product Points
Good looking. Timed grind dosing. Step up from whirly bird blade grinders. Easily changes grind size. Easy access to the grind chamber.
Negative Product Points
Very loud. Inconsistent grind size. Absolutely can not grind espresso. It's labeled as a burr grinder, but that is just a marketing gimmick. The burrs do not grind so much as smash the beans into oblivion with blunt force. Plastic grind receptacle produces lots of static.
Detailed Commentary
I bought this grinder without really understanding what I needed in an espresso grinder. This machine will not make espresso. The finest setting is not fine enough to provide sufficient resistance to nine bars or water pressure. Furthermore, when you look at the grinds compared to a commercial grinder, they are extremely uneven. There is some extremely fine dust, and some very large chunks in the same grind setting. The fine grind dust gets stuck all over the interior of the grind receptacle which is plastic and produces a lot of static. To try to make this machine work for espresso, I even ran the grounds back though on the finest setting. This did help, but it's a crazy thing to do. I have even tried the mod suggested in someone else's review to add some washers to move the burrs closer together, but this didn't work, and made the machine dangerous to use.
I actually think that it is a well constructed grinder for the price, it's a shame that it can't actually do it's job. I will be retiring this grinder for use with old beans and drip coffee. If that is all you use a grinder for, then this might not be a bad option.
Buying Experience
Very easy in store. I would have returned the grinder if I had known that it was the cause of my problems before the return period expired.
