Finest setting DOES NOT create an espresso grind! Cannot put coffee grind container back into machine without having to press spring loaded button that should go down automatically.
Long ago, Cuisinart had a reputation for making quality products with high integrity; today, unfortunately, that is not the case.
This machine was purchased strictly for grinding beans for espresso.
I have been a lover of espresso coffee now for over 50 years and know what is the correct coarseness beans need to be ground to create a true espresso...well, this machine on it's finest setting does not even come close to grinding the beans correctly, making it a total waste for us.
Also, there is a small, spring loaded, button on the base that locks the grind container in automatically when pushed back into the machine...Ours does not work unless we press this button manually...not a real big deal, but definitely a sign of poor quality control on the part of Cuisinart.
I highly recommend staying away from this product and personally have lost all faith in Cuisinart products...This will be the last one we ever purchase.
Three Month Followup
Over the past two months we have had a very frustrating experience trying to get satisfaction from Cuisinart customer service.
We contacted them, telling them we live in Indonesia and that the grinder was a wedding gift, purchased in Australia.
After going back and forth for a month, getting no where, the USA rep told me I need to contact the customer service rep in France. We did so and they were almost impossible to deal with, never answering questions to our satisfaction and asking the same questions, over and over again.
The French customer service rep, after about three weeks told us to contact the rep in Jakarta. This rep after sending photos of the machine and the ground coffee, finally got us in contact with a service center here in Bali.
We have not taken it in yet for repair or replacement.
