I bought this grinder years ago to replace my cumbersome blade grinder. I figured out soon, that this grinder does not work for espresso, even by modifying it so the scale can be turned past the "fine" setting. I got a Black & Decker next, which had the same problem, except it was really loud, generated lots of static electricity, and deteriorated soon (the grind got coarser over time). Having put the B&D where it belongs (trash) I switched back to the DeLonghi. My procedure is now to pre-grind with the DeLonghi and follow up with a blade grinder to get the necessary fineness. This should work until I get a decent grinder (hopefully soon).
