Ratings and Stats Overall Rating: 5.0
Manufacturer: Hario / Kyocera Quality: 4
Average Price: $36.00 Usability: 5
Price Paid: $40.00 Cost vs. Value 5
Where Bought: Target Aesthetics 6
Owned for: 3 months Overall 5
Writer's Expertise: Professional Would Buy Again: No
Similar Items Owned: Mini mill and Feima 600n
Bottom Line: Does the job for fine grinding but doesnt seem to have a good dialing in capability, Not so travel friendly and bulky...
Positive Product Points

Good capacity, Ceramic burrs are sharp and more durable, Clean design, All parts washable

Negative Product Points

Glass bottom receptacle does not have static but it can break. The settings are stepped and are finicky to adjust properly, The product is not compact enough for travel (even the glass is worrying), Coarse grinds marginally worsen in consistency (coarse grinding can be fixed by the OE mod)

Detailed Commentary

Used this grinder for a long time now,

Performance by brewing method,

Espresso: Will grind fine enough but steps are too big for any actual dialing in...

Drip: Did really well in the V60

Syphon: Very good results in my MCA-3

Moka Pot: Decent results

Aeropress: By far the best way to use a skerton...

Actual modifications can be done...

Like using a drill to power the burr axle (it may void warranty and dull the burrs)

Using m8 nuts to get stepless settings...

And the OE mod that deteriorates fine grinding capability and enhances coarse consistency...

Note that the OE mod is reversible....

Buying Experience

No fuss, i went to the nearest store and nabbed it for 40$
