Detailed Commentary

This is my third grinder, having owned a 'cutter' and Starbuck's Barista. Had a good look around and read various reviews which rate the Ibertial as very good value for money. I wanted to spend around £100 on a grinder so this fitted the bill.

I had been struggling with the Barista trying to get a decent crema from my Ascaso Steel. Very frustrating as I thought it was the tamp but after trying some shop ground coffee realised that the Barista simply wasn't grinding fine enough.

Iberital MC2 Auto seemed like the best choice for light home use – as I didn’t like the idea of shots being polluted with old grounds which can accumulate in a douser.

The Iberital has taken a little time to dial in - the worm drive takes quite a lot of tuning but I am getting significantly better results than the Starbuck’s Barista - good 23 second pour time on two fluid ounce for a double shot with a reasonably thick crema.

This grinder produces fantastically fine and consistent grounds. I also like the air tight tinted coffee hopper.

It’s not the most attractive of kitchen appliances, it does produce a little static and a few grams get caught in the shoot but over all I am pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone shopping in this price bracket.

Ibertital could improve the produce by improving the MC Auto’s aesthetics and redesigning the shoot so all the grounds end up in your portafilter but at this price I can’t really complain.

Buying Experience

Bought from Happy Donkey in the UK. Very quick and efficient service and produced and online manual (absent in the shipped item).

Three Month Followup

One Year Followup

Still running very well. Grind is fantastically fine. Criticisms remain - a little on the noisy side (show me a grinder which isn't!) and a little messy. Would probably buy doser next time as my doserless model tends to spill grounds onto the bench. Would recommend this machine - reasonable price and great grind.
