Grind much to uneven, with a fine powder produced no matter what the grind setting. Produces bad coffee and causes the machine to get clocked. Better off buying decent pre-ground coffee.
Positive Product Points
Honestly, I would say there are none. Unless you received this product for free and need an extra grinder to complete a display.
Negative Product Points
It doesn't do a good enough job for either French presses, espresso machines or stove-tops to produce half-decent coffee. Due to a very poor quality grind. This also causes the machine to get blocked up and cease grinding. Makes grinding pointless, in fact.
The rating of 1 reflects the fact that I see no point in the product. I would rather drink pre-ground coffee.
Detailed Commentary
Can't believe this product has received an earlier OK review.
Absolutely, no question, not suitable for anyone who has bothered to find a site such as this one. I bought one of these a few weeks ago for £39, and I doubt I will still be using it in a month.
The problem is, the grind is way too uneven. No matter what grind setting it's on, there is too much very fine coffee powder. So, it's not good for a French press, and the unevenness and lack of a very fine setting means it's no good for an espresso machine or stove-top maker either.
I imagine the only thing this grinder would be useful for is a filter. At least then the fine powder could be caught in the filter. In a French press you just get lots of bits and a bitter taste, supposedly through the water being in contact with the powder for too long. Even a 30 second press doesn't work, because the rest of the coffee is not fine enough.
Very disappointed with this product. And a big boooo for Krups, who should know better.
Buying Experience
Shop was not a coffee-focused shop, so no comment really.
