I've used this for three plus years and it is still going strong. I've seen many comments about static and concur with them. It is definitely messy. But, compared to a blade grinder, I don't see all that much difference.
It is very noisy, kind of like a small circular saw. If you have roommates or others you don't want to wake, don't buy this. You could throw a towel over it but I don't think that would make much of a difference.
I use it for two different grinds: electric drip and press pot. I seems to grind just fine for either of those uses. The press pot is new and the grind appears to be consistent and the result great. The beans, at least with my batches of five scoops, do bounce around a bit. Occasionally I have to give it a shake at the end of the grind to get the last few beans through.
I also use to for small batches, so I don't know if you were using it for multiple pots whether it's usability would be as great.
As far as cleanup, you do have to take it apart occasionally. With a coffee brush I am able to get it good and clean.
