if Krups doesn't improve their burr , I wouldn't recommend you to buy this grinder , try the conical type !
Positive Product Points
compact design , easy to operate & setting , cheap
Negative Product Points
produced much dust , even at the coarsest setting , too noisy when grinding , bean hopper & ground container not using anti static material , the vibration some times make the hopper lid raised & the grinding will stop until you pressed it down again.
Detailed Commentary
I bought this product at SOGO department store at Oct 2010 , using it for almost 5 months now , avg 3-5 cups a day, if only Krups could change / modify from the flat burr to conical type , I think this grinder will perform better , like the built in conical burr grinder which they use in Krups automatic espresso machine.
- I wouldn't recommend it for french press & moka pot , because the dust make dirty liquid result & taste bitter , work ok with aeropress , paper filter & vietnam drip
- tested it once using Krups 5020 , at finest setting ground size , the espresso result was drink-able & clean (no dust) , using medium roasted bean.
- don't use it frequently / too much amount to grind with dark roasted (oily) beans, will clog the outlet
Buying Experience
till now there's no problem with the grinder , I cleaned it every 2 months
