Stay away from Zaccardi's. Grinder may work well for others but not for me.
Positive Product Points
This review is for the identical Nemox Lux grinder. It is compact and very attractive sitting on the counter. That's it for the positives.
Negative Product Points
Inconsistent grind. Jams up with oily beans. Way too much grounds retained in the grinder.
Detailed Commentary
I'm not a novice and went through over 2 lbs. of beans trying to dial it in. The packing up of the grounds in the machine appears to have a significant impact on the grind. It packs up and the grind is way too fine. Almost nothing is extracted from my Gggia. Clean it out and make a one click adjustment and the coffee pours through like a drip machine with about the same color and flavor. I absolutely hate it.
It may be defective, but since they seller is refusing to take it back I'll likely never now. In a brief conversation with the distributor, I'm sure it won't be the last one, they suggested removing a couple of thin stainless steel pins at the end of the discharge tube. Thse pins function as a safety device, keeping someone from sticking their finger in the burrs. They said this was a potential problem area; I agree but don't think I should have to work on/modify the machine and I don't agree that is the whole problem. I'm sure there are 1000's of these in the hands of happy consumers, but I'm not one of them.
My goal is to return if for an exchange or refund, but it's not going to happen without a fight!
Buying Experience
Now the interesting part - bought from Zaccardi's a subsidary of a company called "Theme Gifts." I've been buying online for years, Seattle Coffee Gear, Whole Lattel Love, Amazon, over 250 purchases from EBay. This is the WORST company I have ever had the misfortune to order from. BEWARE of doing any business with them!
