A must for anyone who wants to get the most out of their espresso machine.
Positive Product Points
Really, really fine level of adjustment, especially for espresso. Very well made. Easy to get parts. Very popular, so there is a lot of support out there in the community.
Negative Product Points
Doser doesn't really work well for home usage. Although you can grind for anything, it is really an espresso-only grinder. Very deep and tall. Cord comes out left side, should come out the back.
Detailed Commentary
All the other reviews have said it all, but I will just mention a few things that stand out.
The doser is great if you are grinding a pound of coffee, and pulling 50 shots an hour, but for a few shots here and there it is not so great. There are all kinds of mods out there, but I opted for something simpler. I grind the amount of coffee I want into the doser. Then I put a simple short tupperware container underneath, then pull the doser lever repeatedly until it is all dispensed. Once a week, I stick a vacuum in the doser to get the old grinds out. I guess I am not as picky as others who stress over one or two "stale" grounds that may be a day old.
The amount of control over the grind is so fine, that sometimes it can be a little annoying getting it back if you move it. But it is very nice to have the control.
If you are considering a Solis, Rocky, Anfim, or something else below $400, please do not. Just buy the Mazzer. If you are like me, you can get the black model for $349 from Whole Latte Love.
