Sometimes you can't believe what you read! I found the Melitta MEM1B to be a excellent grinder. I'm no coffee pro but, I have been enjoying espressos and lattes for over 20 years. I have gone through all kinds of blade grinders. The Melitta burr grinder is simple to use and the grind is perfect for my Krups Novo 2000. I can't believe all the negative reviews on this product. This is a very good product for your money!! Not as messy as the reviews claim. The Melitta grinder is a very good looking unit. Follow the directions and you can't go wrong.
Negative Product Points
A Little messy but, you can expect that with any grinder (not as messy as my blade grinder) Not bad at all. The coffee sticks to the container from static cling. Tap the container with your finger and it falls into the hopper. No big deal. I clean mine with a coffee brush after each use. No real complaints. The coffee finishes grinding before the timer runs out. So what! Turn the timer off manually. A little noisey.
Detailed Commentary
For a $20.00 burr grinder I don't think I made a bad buy at all! Not really all that hard to clean. The Melitta grinder is a very nice looking appliance. I don't use warm soapy water to clean it. I use a damp cloth and towel dry it. I found that the finest grind setting is perfect for my espresso machine. I did NOT have any problems with it plugging up at the discharge port and it does not BLOW coffee all over the kitchen like I have read in some reviews. Melitta gets a thumbs up and a recommendation from me. Great little grinder!!
