"We all know what Melitta burrs bring: They bring boulders and dust." Joan Baez
Positive Product Points
Redisigned. It's cleaner, the chute extends into the exit hopper now so it doesn't broadcast dust everywhere.
Negative Product Points
Still won't grind fine enough for espresso.
Detailed Commentary
OK, I tried the modifications some suggested. I got those burrs as tight as they could be without touching. I even pushed down on the top of the burr while grinding (very noisy) and in the end, I still got that Folgers grind with a little fine dust on the side. Not nearly fine enough to make espresso with, plus the gear that holds the burr in place tends to slip, so today a 15 grind might be reasonably fine, but next week it will be coarse again. It does a good drip grind--fast, a bit noisy and not altogether consistent, but better than a whirly-beater. I really, really wanted to like it but it seems like a flat burr like this can't do the kind of grind that a conical burr can do.
Buying Experience
Bought from QVC. They told me it would be a month's shipping time, but it showed up in two days.
