A product that lives up to it's hype and will continue to do so for many years to come.
Positive Product Points
Reliable grind consistency. Heavy Stable Seemingly very durable
Negative Product Points
Architecturally uninspired Grinds are difficult to clean out of chute and around edges of doser - vanes don't sweep all the grinds out
Detailed Commentary
This is my first grinder and it was purchased after months of researching various brands and their qualities by price. This seemed to offer the most for the least money and it had the added benefit of having a LONG and successful history behind it.
I have been pleased with it's speed and consistency of grind - it's a little loud but I think of it more as an anthem to the good espresso or press coffee that's coming rather than an annoyance.
I wish the vanes in the doser had little sweeps or something so they would better collect the grinds that currently accumulate around the edges of the doser. The grids in the chute are also annoying to clean out. I use a couple toothpicks to sweep out the chute and a little brush to clean inside the doser after every use. It takes a little longer and is a bit annoying but i'm happy to pay the price in time for an otherwise excellent product.
I would definately recommend it to anyone. I grind at about 9/10 for espresso (give or take a step) and around 20 for press pot. I'm still experimenting but these seem to be acceptable benchmarks.
Buying Experience
I purchased it in person from Visions Espresso Services Inc in Seattle. They were friendly and professional though a bit surprised when I told them it was for home use.
