Detailed Commentary
This is the Starbucks Barista version, which seems to be selling here in the UK for a respectable £40, although a price sticker on the unit itself said £60! Ive read a lot here about the grind not being fine enough for good espresso, but I cant see that myself. It seems to grind as fine as the Illy pre-ground espresso I usually buy, although I may try tweaking at some point if im feeling brave. I was also sceptical about the alleged static issue, but it really does seem to cause a problem! I have to dispense the grinds out over the sink, as theres always a constant 'stream' that sticks to the top edge and spreads itself over the work surface..very annoying! Im amazed at how quiet it is though. I used to have a generic burr grinder which made a very high pitched whine, but this just makes a muted whirring noise, and seems to grind very quickly indeed.
Buying Experience
Went into local Starbucks, the manager got one from stock and threw in a pack of epsresso beans for free..as they cost £4 thats equal to a 10% saving.
