Solis 177 - Cheap, but for everyting else available in price range, only one worth having.
Positive Product Points
Cheap, but OK for coffee
Negative Product Points
Just a little better than a toy but a whole lot better than one of those $50 things I tried.
Rather noisey, much more so than than my Rocky
Some static but at least it doesn't go flying all over the kitchen (again like those cheaper units)
Detailed Commentary
I bought this unit to grind my coffee for the drip pot. Don't think I would even dream of trying to grind a shot for the espresso machine, grind is not consistent enough and it produces a lot of powder, even with a drip grind. The Timer is a spring loaded device like these $2.00 oven timers you see and the numbers were already gone when I took it out of the box. It took two pounds of coffee to come a with a setting that gave the amount I want to make a pot in my drip coffee maker. I then had to mark the knob with a marker so I could tell what setting I had. There is still considerable static which makes it somewhat messy (but nothing like those cheaper units, I tried one of those and coffee flew all over the kitchen). It is noisy, much more so than my Rocky I use for espresso. I'm looking at buying a better espresso grinder, but the Rocky wouldn't make a good coffee grinder (who would want to pull that doser 10 or 12 times every time you wanted a pot of coffee). Overall, you get what you pay for and I'm convenced after seeing what's available in that priice range you're not going to get much better.
