Detailed Commentary
The Aeropress is a wonderful little coffee esystem that was invented by a Stanford University engineer that is better than a percolator which "burns" coffee and that is even better than the Bodum French Press which comes in a close second place. Water and grounds are mixed together instead of letting the water and grounds sit for 4 minutes as with a French Press and gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a paper microfilter in 20 seconds and with a total brewing time of 30 seconds one has the best tasting coffee!! Coffee flavour and freshness is retained and preserved on the Aeropress especially when grinding beans fresh for use on the Aeropress. Always use only freshly ground regular coffee beans on a "starting" espresso grind setting on the espresso/coffee grinder before using the Aeropress. You can use espresso beans as well to make espresso instead of regular coffee for an espresso that rivals the espresso of a stovetop but obviously not that of a real 15 bar pump espresso machine that has more pressure for making real espresso. Regular coffee tastes better with the Aeropress if the regular coffee beans are ground on the first espresso grind setting of your grinder because it adds more pressure together with the manual air pressure that you put on the coffee thus making a delightful brew. Therefore use a grinder that can grind beans for espresso as well as coffee such as the Rancilio Rocky Doser on starting espresso grind setting Ten (10) for best results- for example. The Aeropress uses manual air pressure as on a French Press to make coffee but it tastes better than a French Press with no coffee sediment!! The extra pressure of a finer grind for your regular coffee beans together with the manual air pressure as on a Bodum French Press for twenty seconds which is the regular extraction time of an espresso machine is what makes superb coffee on the Aeropress. The Aeriopress thus combines the physics of an espresso machine and a French Press to make the best coffee!! The Aeropress is easy to put together and it is easy to clean. One can travel very easily with the Aeropress as well and have coffee on demand everywhere! Being a purist I also use filtered water on my Aeropress. The Aeropress is fun to use and all of my friends love it and say that it makes the best coffee!!
