Takes longer to brew than my drip machine Larger pot doesn't keep one cup as hot as a smaller one would
Detailed Commentary
I had heard a lot about French Press coffee makers, and decided to give one a try. After reading horror stories about glass units exploding (urban myth?), I decided to go with a stainless steel model. Having read good reviews on the Bodum, it was a natural choice. My only dilema was to go with the 8oz or 24oz version. I only make one cup at a time, but went with the larger model just to cover all my options. Still, I think the smaller model would keep the coffee a little hotter. Oh well, I'll just save up and get another!
I can honestly say that it makes the best coffee I've ever made, and as good as I can find from good coffee shops. Be sure to follow the obvious rules:
Grind your own fresh beans Use filtered water Pre-heat the pot Use enough coffee (I grind 3 tablespoons of whole beans) Add a little extra water (keeps the loose grinds to a minimum)
Well worth the investment. Go get one!!!
