Detailed Commentary
So many of the reviews I read about this product mentioned that this machine was hard to clean. In the end, its not any more difficult to clean than a French Press. I would recommend cleaning just after use.
For better quality flavor and strength I would recommend the following:
Use about 15% more coffee grounds than instructed by Bodum.
Grind closer to espresso fineness. With my Rancilio Rocky I set it at 27.
When the water start to fill the upper part and exit the upper part, be sure to stir the mixer.
Only use high quality freshly roasted beans.
When brewing using the above advise, this machine produces the best totally infused cup of coffee that is dark black in color, strong, smooth and has a full-body flavor that exceeds the French Press in terms of flavor extraction. Best of all its free of cloudy murk of other brewing methods.
Have used the machine at lease 3 a week since buying it and it is still working great. In between uses im brewing French press and Turkish each of wish is producing different flavor results from the same bean. Of the three brewing methods the vac pot produces the strongest yet cleanest cup of coffee with the least amount of grounds. Some people love this, others miss the thickness.
Because the vac pot uses infusion method of brewing, it is also possible to blend in things like homey, coco powder, Carmel, or vanilla to sweeten and flavor. This produces better flavor results than adding such ingredient in after the fact.
in any case, the Bodum has given me not problems and produces the best flavor extraction with the least amount of ground.
