Detailed Commentary

I received this as a birthday gift more as a hint of an impending trip to Paris (Bonjour? Get it?) but that's another story! ;^) than for it's coffee-making abilities. But we'd been suffering really horrible coffee via a standard "V"-shaped filter auto coffee maker. We tried different grinds, ground our own, changed the beans, used filtered water, cleaned the damn thing more times! and our coffee was still bitter, barely drinkable.

This press has been the best $40 investment (OK being a present I don't know *exactly* how much but I've got an idea). No more bitterness! We've tried it with our fresh beans, fresh ground, fine ground, President's Choice ersatz ... same smooth, full-bodied taste.

I've even gotten into the "coffee groove". I love the process of making it - zen-like experiences interpersed throughtout an otherwise hectic day. The only downside is that I'm drinking triple the amount of coffee. Doh!
