Detailed Commentary
Glass press pots tended to last about 6 months getting daily use in my kitchen before an accidental bump would shatter the glass. The Lexan beaker on this one is unbreakable. It's made for camping and backpacking, but it's just fine for use at home too. Styling is fine too. I did have the plunger fail after about 4 years on my previous Lexan pot. But, that's after, what, probably 1500 uses. Also the gold plated strainer in the cap on my replacement Lexan pot was totally useless, was more like a gold plated stopper. I ripped it out and have been happy ever since.
I have nifty glass press pots, vacuum pots, Chemex, and so on for company, but this is what I use for everyday coffee and I wouldn't think of using a glass pot again.
