Detailed Commentary
First let me point out that I am using the model suspended by three steel bars, on two hand painted porcelain plates. This is clearly more of a fixture than an appliance, and it is not the one imaged on the coffeegeek website.
This was a gift from my girlfriend, had I bought my own it probably would have been a cheaper model. That said, this thing is beautiful, works on a stove top if you use a coil, and the burner (butane) is great. I have never tasted as many nuances in my coffee as I have with this siphon. I love watching it work, and it is always a piece to talk about at family dinners.
It arrived with some broken pieces specifically the painted porcelain plates that hold it together, though it works fine on a stove, and the pieces were replaced in short order for free. I was disappointing that the handle is this bulky plastic knob, but not so much that I have tried to replace it. The glass is also thinner than some of their other models as I discovered one night when I accidentally broke the top funnel. Easily replaced with other yama parts, and the equipment still works fine. Because of this I only use this pot every so often, it is not designed to be the workhorse that some other siphons are.
Buying Experience
Amazon.com is always so-so when it comes to buying.
